A Rich History
Perched above the wild stretch of Chesil Beach, the Manor House Hotel has watched the Dorset coast for over 400 years. Built in the 16th century, it began life as a sturdy farmhouse, offering shelter from the salty winds. Over the centuries, it evolved, first as a working farm, then as a guest house for those drawn to the coast’s rugged beauty. In 2010, David and Alison Allen lovingly restored the Grade II-listed building, reviving its 13 bedrooms, cosy bar, and restaurant celebrating local Dorset fare. By 2021, RedCat Pub Company took the reins, blending historic character with the comforts of modern hospitality. It remains a gentle, dignified witness to time, tides, and the curious footsteps of visitors.
